Sago Palm

This is a popular plant for achieving a tropical look in a small landscape area. Cycads look like palms but are actually a primitive cone-bearing plants that are related to pines and other conifers. The usually deep green foliage looks best in some shade. Slow growing to about 10 feet tall, and will grow many offshoots along the base of the trunk. This species has some exotic cousins that show up occasionally in nurseries too.
