Mexican Fan Palm

This is the big weed that graces our desert. A sturdy native, the seeds of fruiting specimens find their way everywhere here in the valley, and volunteer palms spring up everywhere there is sufficient moisture. Nonetheless, it may also be the single most frequently used landscape specimen. In the right situation, this palm looks great and brings an attractive southwestern flavor to a garden.
