Dahlia
Although
most frequently grown as an annual
,
Dahlias are actually perennials
grown from tuberous
roots. Numerous flower types exist in all colors but true blue, and the plants
grow from 15" to over 6' high. The long-lasting blooms face outward and upward.
Dahlias like full sun in the morning and shade in the afternoon. Tubers may
be dug in winter to increase the number of plants.
