Spathiphyllum
has pointed, oval, shiny green leaves on long petioles
.
The flower is typical of the arum family, a white or yellow spadix
set off by a spathe
.
It floats far above the leaves on a thin stalk. The floer lasts for weeks, though
the white spathe will turn green in time. A striking, stand-alone houseplant.
In summer keep moderately moist and spray occasionally, using tepid, soft water.
