official flower of the City of Los Angeles, Bird of Paradise is a stemless member
of the banana family with leathery, evergreen leaves about 16 inches long on
long petioles
.
The long-lasting flower is surrounded by a leaf folded into a boat shape.
An incredibly hardy plant for our hot summers, Bird of Paradise can spend time
in the conservatory, sun room, or outdoor patio in the hottest months. Keep
