The
3 foot+ long, fleshy, upright, sword-like leaves of this plant are marked with
light or dark green cross-stripes. The very fragrant, small flowers are greenish
white and arranged in clusters 20 inches high. Many varieties are available.
An ideal plant for beginners.
Very sunny and warm all year. Water only when the soil has dried to the touch;
less in winter when it is cool. Standing in water can kill the plant. Give cactus
food once a month. Overfeeding softens the leaves.
