Portulaca

If ever there was a perfect plant for Las Vegas summer flowerbeds, it is Portulaca. This heat lover will languish if planted too early or over-watered, but once the heat starts, occasional watering will allow development of a wide spreading succulent leaved plant with hundreds of extremely brightly colored flowers. Available in single colors as well as several electric color mixes, Portulaca is extremely resistant to heat and will thrive even when the cactus nearby are wilting.
